The 10 Most Common Hisense TV Problems

Would you like to fix some issues with your Hisense TV? I have explained all the solutions below for you.

1. Black screen on Hisense TV

If your Hisense TV does not display a picture, but the sound works, perform a power reset on your TV. Your TV’s internal software may have a small problem. If that doesn’t work, contact a service person to check the power and backlight.

To do this, unplug the mains plug, wait two minutes, then plug it back in.

If that didn’t solve your problem, it could be the backlight and a blown LED strip or the power board. In this case, please contact a repairer.

2. Wifi problem on Hisense TV

You have some Wifi connection problems on your Hisense TV, reset your connection. If it doesn’t work, please update your TV system via USB or internet. As a last resort, restore the factory settings.

Delete your connection and reinstall it. Tap the SETTINGS icon > NETWORK > NETWORK CONFIGURATION. If you are using the wireless network, click on the corresponding tab. Go down and choose your Wifi. Enter your password. You will see “CONNECTED” below the previous page. 

If you are using an Ethernet cable, click on the first tab and verify that your cable is plugged in correctly. If that doesn’t work, please try with a different cable as it may be faulty.

The next step to fix your wifi issues is to update your TV system via USB or internet. 

Update via USB:

A television regularly receives updates to provide a better user experience. 

Download the file provided in the Download area of ​​the Hisense website by checking the HSSO code present on the label on the back of your television.

At the end of the download, copy the file to the root of a USB key and then plug it into the TV. Go to the SETTINGS > SUPPORT > SYSTEM INFORMATION > UPDATE > UPDATE FROM USB menu. A message informs you that an update is detected and invites you to install it. The TV starts up and displays the message “Loading data”. 

Internet update:

Press the MENU on your remote control then SETTINGS > SUPPORT > SYSTEM UPDATE > CHECK FOR FIRMWARE UPDATES. A window displays the information.

Click NOW to start the download and then RESTART NOW. The TV restarts and the update installs.

If that doesn’t work, reset your Hisense TV to factory settings.

Restore factory settings:

In the MENU, go to SETTINGS, then to ASSISTANCE. Choose to restore the factory settings and confirm your manipulation by pressing RESTORE.

Your TV restarts, erasing user data and settings. You will need to reconfigure your TV.

3. Sound issue on Hisense TV

Is your TV sound missing or not sounding clear? Do not panic ! Follow these tips:

Adjust the volume settings and check if Mute mode is set to “Off”.

If you have a headset or a soundbar connected via Bluetooth, disconnect it, it could come from there. 

Verify that it is not from a particular source by testing with other different sources.

Restore factory settings to see if the problem can be solved (see the procedure in point 2).

4. Hisense TV not turning on

If your TV no longer turns on, but the standby light stays on, the problem is probably with your remote control. 

Check that your Hisense TV remote is working by testing the infrared light from your remote with a camera or smartphone and changing the batteries.

Carry out an electrical reset (see the procedure at point 1).

If your Hisense TV still refuses to work, contact the after-sales service.

5. Hisense TV turning itself off

This problem can come from the remote control. Remove the batteries and press several buttons on the remote control for 10 seconds. Then put the batteries back.

Then perform an electrical reset on your television (see procedure in point 1).

It could be the power board supplying power to other components. We advise you to contact a television repairer who will be able to repair it.

6. Hisense remote not working

If the remote control of your Hisense TV no longer works, the first thing to do is to change the batteries. If the problem does not come from there, you will have to redo a pairing between your TV and the remote control.

Check that there are no objects between the remote control and the TV. To see if the Hisense remote’s infrared sensor is working properly, use a smartphone. Position the front of the Hisense remote towards the lens of the device. Press a button on the remote then observe the LED on your device. If you can see it, your remote control is in perfect working order.

You can then try to pair your remote. After turning on the TV, hold the MENU button for 3 seconds. A message will appear if the pairing was successful.

Otherwise, reset the remote in two ways:

  1. Remove the batteries from the remote control. Press keys for 20 seconds. Reinsert the batteries into the remote. Try turning your TV back on.
  2. Hold down the volume+ key and the OK key for 10 seconds. Try turning your TV back on with the Power button.

The last possible solution is to reset your TV without a remote control (see the procedure in point 2).

If you get no results, your remote control is faulty. It will then have to be replaced.

7. YouTube issue on Hisense Smart TV

To fix a YouTube issue on a Hisense TV, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app, this fixes the issues in most cases. Also check if your TV software is up to date.

Uninstall and reinstall the YouTube app:

To delete an app:

  • Access the HOME menu and go to APPS. 
  • Select the application and hold the OK button, then click on UNINSTALL. 
  • Confirm by pressing OK and it will be uninstalled.

To reinstall the app again: 

  • Navigate to HOME > APPS and click OK. 
  • Move to GET MORE APPS and click OK. 
  • Move to Google Play to discover all the applications. You can also return to the very top by moving to the right to select the magnifying glass and validate. 
  • Move to the right and enter the name of the application to choose it and validate. 
  • Click OK to download it.

Check that the application updates are made:

Updated apps automatically install on your device.

To check that the latest update has been made, go to HOME > APPS. Head to the app and hold the OK button. Go down to the menu that is displayed in INFOS and validate. If you see UPDATE appear, click on it and validate. Otherwise, there is no update to do.

Finally, check that your Hisense TV is also up to date.

8. Netflix issue on Hisense TV

If the Netflix app refuses to work on your Hisense TV, start by checking if there is an update for the Netflix app. Then uninstall and reinstall the app. Finally, also check if your TV software is up to date.

As you may have read in the previous section, it’s the same principle as for YouTube. I therefore invite you to carry out all the manipulations above:

  • Uninstall your Netflix app
  • Reinstall the app
  • Check that the updates are made

9. Image issue on Hisense TV

If you are experiencing an image problem with your Hisense TV, perform an image test.

First, start by doing an image test by clicking on MENU > SETTINGS > SUPPORT > SELF-DIAGNOSIS > IMAGE TEST then TRY NOW. If the problem persists, check the signal strength.

You don’t see photos or they are black and white, you have to unplug your TV for 60 seconds and then adjust the saturation.

If the image is distorted, check: the compression of the video content as well as the reception of the signal.

Your image is blurry? Go to MENU > SETTINGS > PICTURE > PICTURE MODE SETTINGS > SHARPNESS. You can try increasing or decreasing the Sharpness. 

If the image is red, purple, pink or other colors: Go to EXPERT SETUP > WHITE BALANCE to adjust it.

10. HDMI issue on Hisense TV

If you’re having trouble connecting via HDMI, these solutions may help.

If you have picture but no sound: Check if ARC is selected at MENU > SETTINGS > AUDIO > SPEAKERS > AUDIO OUTPUT.

ARC (Audio Return Channel) allows sound to be returned between two devices on their HDMI sockets.

If there is no picture and/or sound: check that the HDMI source connection is well connected.

If your TV has no signal: unplug the cable from the TV and plug it back in after 60 seconds then try MENU > SETTINGS > SYSTEM > HDMI & CEC > HDMI FORMAT, to confirm if the signal can be recognized. 

Try going to another HDMI port or using another HDMI cable as this may be faulty.

It can also come from your remote control, I recommend that you redirect to point 6.

11. WLAN issue on Hisense TV

WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) is a wireless local area network. It establishes a connection between multiple computing devices. Wifi (Wireless Fidelity) is a type of WLAN.

In this case, go closer to point 2 because it is the same procedure that must be done for the WLAN.

There is also the WAKE ON WLAN feature which allows a device to be woken up from standby power states for easier management.

You can enable or disable this feature in MENU > NETWORK > NETWORK CONFIGURATION and scroll down to click on WAKE ON WLAN.

Advantages and disadvantages of Hisense TVs
